Life science research
The area of life science is as wide and variable as the application range of the LemnaTec Scanalyzer systems. Applications start from low-throughput, highly specialised tests in ecotoxicology, environmental or plant research, using table top imaging units like the LemnaTec Scanalyzer or the LemnaTec Scanalyzer PL. For huge numbers of small samples in multiwell plates Scanalyzer HTS systems with mobile cameras are suitable. But the same units may also be used for plant trays with soil, where growth and structure of plants need to be assessed in detail by visible light, near-infrared or fluorescence imaging. Whenever necessary a further dimension can always be added by employing 3-D laser scanning systems.
Bigger plants are measured in Scanalyzer 3D units. Depending on the degree of automatisation plants are placed in the Scanalyzer 3D manually or transported on conveyor belts directly from the greenhouses to the imaging chambers. Such chambers provide top and side imaging of both shoot and root systems. Application of different camera and acquisition modes – from visual light to near infrared (NIR/SWIR), infrared (IR) and fluorescence imaging – opens new perspectives for visualisation and non-destructive quantification for researchers.
LemnaTec helps researchers to transform their plant phenotyping needs into the appropriate technical projects for their specific aims. Besides the imaging hardware, this includes image analysis, using the powerful LemnaGrid tool, as well as data transformation and mining with the LemnaMiner. LemnaTec is also able to provide the necessary server infrastructure and implement the respective interfaces with the LemnaBase database integrated in the customer’s infrastructure.
