March 16th, 2018, Aachen, Germany: Plant Phenotyping specialist LemnaTec announced a successful financing round led by DEWB, Anterra Capital and new investor QE-3 Equity Partners, a Munich based venture capital and private equity firm.
The investment follows the successful launch of LemnaTec’s next generation of laboratory equipment in 2017 including the Germination Scanalyzer, an industry-leading system designed to store and periodically image seeds to check their germination status. The company also continues to work on its proprietary software platform for advanced plant analysis.
“LemnaTec is uniquely positioned to work with customers across all plant breeding stages”, says Chairman Sven Holmlund. “Our business is about understanding what scientists and commercial customers need to get research results efficiently and this means improved sensor development, more advanced algorithms for data processing and better data visualization tools”. He added: “There have been many changes on the industry side which are reflected in our R&D efforts, our partner selection and the pricing of new products”.
As part of the financing round Michael Peterseim, Executive Partner of QE-3 Equity Partners, joins the executive team of LemnaTec to help oversee the group’s partnership and expansion strategies in the US and China as well as global sales of its new laboratory products.
