Application Examples

Duckweed MTP

Sample of duckweed in MTP

In duckweed assays, it is important to record the status of growth and development regularly. With ImageAIxpert, documentary images of the samples are stored systematically and the operator can insert sample names and descriptive text that are securely linked with the image in the data storage. As upgrade, software packages for duckweed analysis are available.

Precipitate on a filter

In sample preparation it is important to keep track of sample properties during the process. For instance once precipitating a sample on a filter, it can be meaningful to document how it looks like as this might be important for later working steps. ImageAIxpert systematically stores the images together with descriptions and makes retrieving easy.

Post-harvest documentation of fruit

Harvested fruit maintain their quality only for a limited time. Images are valuable support in documenting the shelf-life time.

Documenting plant diseases

Occurence of diseases - such as Phytophthora infestans - demands for reliable documenting to enable proper crop management and prevent disease spread. In breeding, a reliable documentation of resistance levels is crucial to select best-performing varieties. ImageAIxpert can do the documenting by storing the images together with annotations. It can be upgraded to a disease analysis system with our dedicated software package.

Documentation of seedling germination and growth

Images of the germination and growth processes are important to prove the plant features - regardless whether seeds germinate on artificial media, in soil, or on paper. ImageAIxpert takes this job and gives you the possibility to add all necessary descriptions. Upgrading to SeedAIxpert is possible by acquiring an additional software package.

Seedlings on Agar

Population or compound screens

When screening for genotypes or compounds, visible differences frequently are key to identify the promising or outstanding candidates, like the yellow plants in well C8 that could indicate a pigment-relevant mutation in case of a genetic screen. Or, if this would be a compound test, yellow leaves could indicate toxic properties of the tested substance.

Plant cultivation

Cultivating plants demands for documenting the current status of growth and development. Images of the plants are highly valuable in addition to generic descriptions. Having a systematic set of images allows re-assessing earlier times in development much better than any written description. With storing the image together with sample name, description, and recording time in ImageAIxpert, you always can track the development. Our PhenoAIxpert software package is available as upgrade, so that you can use the images for digital phenotyping.

Customers application examples

As a lab technician at a plant breeder, I used to struggle with assigning names, taking notes and storing the images on my computer. Moreover, I had to place a camera and a suitable light source somewhere, but changing light conditions led to non-comparable images. For me, ImageAIxpert has made my life much easier – upon image acquisition, I can store name and other meta data consistently with the image as they are easy to retrieve. The image quality is always constant. I can honestly say, ImageAIxpert has become my best lab mate for sample documentation.
