LemnaTec Training

The LemnaTec Academy offers training to all customers. Once you acquire a new system, an introductory trainig is included in the delivery. This training is organized as in-person training either on-site (particularly of those systems that require local installation) or online. In addition, we have compiled a series of videos that cover training content from system operation over image recording to image and data analysis.

Our training videos can serve as preparation of the initial training process. In particular, the videos of class 1 are useful to get an overview ahead of the training.

The training process that is included with the acquisition of a new LemnaTec system is organized in the following way:

After delivery and – if applicable – local installation, LemnaTec provides a first training to the new users that include operating all hardware parts together with the corresponding functions of the LemnaControl software. An overview on the LemnaExperiment software is provided, too. This first training usually happens immediately after the system is operationable.

Thereafter, users are asked to record typical images with the imaging system. These images will serve to develop the analysis pipeline that is included with the delivery. If the imaging system contains more than one camera type, one analysis pipeline is provided for each type. Thus, users should consider this when recording images. The training part 1 includes that LemnaTec provides guidelines how to record proper images with the respecive system. The duration of image recording step depends on the sample type, e.g., the time until plants have grown to the necessary size.

When a first set of images is present, the users review the images together with LemnaTec’s image processing and application specialists. Thereby, analysis targets are defined. The LemnaTec image processing specialists will develop the analysis pipeline(s) according to this definitions.

Once a first version of the analysis pipeline(s) is ready, training part 2 takes place. As preparation of training part 2, videos of class 2 are recommended. This training includes how to use the analysis pipelines to analyze recorded images in LemnaExperiment. It also includes a detailed introduction to the functios of LemnaExperiment. Moreover, it also introduces the way of analysis programming in LemnaGrid. The training part 2 usually consists of more than one session.

After the initial training that belongs to each system, users may wish to refresh skills, or deepen capabilities. Furthermore, users who want to add analyses for other sample types have the demand to modify existing analyses or to establish new analyses. Here, the content of classes 3, 4, and 5 assists users to work on the analysis development.

We grouped the videos into classes that correspond the typical learning process. Thus, classes 1, 2, and 3 have successive content. The videos in the higher classes are use-case specific.

Videos are classified in basic, advanced, expert, and technical content.

These videos are relevant for all users. If users only work with pre-set analyses, they do not require the advanced or expert content.

These videos are relevant for users who do sample annotations, set analysis definitions, or other modifications of analysis pipelines. There is no clear border between the advanced and basic level, or between advanced and expert level.

These videos are relevant for users who do their own programming of analysis pipelines in LemnaGrid.

Technical videos comprise IT-related and other technical content.

The videos in class 1 cope with the initial steps that are relevant for new users who start with image recording. These videos can serve as preparation for the in-person training that is included in the system delivery.

The videos in class 2 relate do the first steps in image processing. Again, these can be valuable as preparation for the in-person training.

Classes 3 provide trainig for advanced steps in image analysis programming and they cope with more use-case specific content.
